7-24-24    THOUGHTS

As human flesh, we all need a safe place when times are tough and threatening.  How wonderful that God is our refuge and the rock of our salvation.  As His saints, we are His delight.  How comforting and assuring this is!  I hope we can identify with verse 6.   Has God counseled us? Have we set the Lord before us continually?  The last two verses are prophetic and move the discussion into the spiritual-eternal realm.  Contemplated here is “the death, burial and resurrection” of God’s Son Jesus, the Christ. We must take on God’s presence and abide in Him, for in His presence is “fulness of joy.”
Jas 4:8   Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Ps 116:1-11     Preserve me, O God, for I take refuge in You.  2  I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord; I have no good besides You."  3  As for the saints who are in the earth, They are the majestic ones in whom is all my delight. 4  The sorrows of those who have bartered for another god will be multiplied; I shall not pour out their drink offerings of blood, Nor will I take their names upon my lips. 5  The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You support my lot.  6  The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me. 7  I will bless the LORD who has counseled me; Indeed, my mind instructs me in the night. 8   I have set the LORD continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.  9  Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will dwell securely. 10  For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay. 11  You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.

My Prayer:
O Father, preserve us as we flee to Your  presence where fullness of joy is.  All right counsel comes from You, O God.   Help our minds and Your Spirit as we apply Your truth in our lives. We desire only Your instruction, for it gives us the way to walk in this world.  With You at our right hand, we will not be moved.  Thank You, O Father, for the power of the resurrection of Your son.  Help us to be Your saints, pleasing children.     In the name of our Lord,   Amen.
